I made this little original collage to depict one little helenium flower holding all of the emotions of sorrow and admiration for one world. In Floriography, helenium means, “tears,” and, “admiration.” When working on this collage, I also made a bigger piece called, We Built Each Other A World, which depicted a variety of flowers, including helenium, bursting from two houses. That piece was meant to symbolize the strong community in Minneapolis, Minnesota, fighting to protect immigrants from ICE. I made Hillside Tears as a tiny companion piece.
